So HVAC expenses are probably the majority of most U.S. citizens energy consumption. If you want to save money this system has to be working as well as possible. Many HVAC systems are not sealed properly leaking conditioned air into areas that are not desirable and will ultimately be wasted, we must stop this in order to give less of our hard earned dollars to the utility man.

One area that is relatively easy to seal in the HVAC system are the registers. In my current home, the supply registers are in the floor. All of mine were done pretty well except one.

So I realize these aren’t beautiful photos and I will be replacing the flooring soon. Point of the story is, you pay good money to condition the air in your home don’t let it leak out into unoccupied spaces!!! I have sealed the HVAC vents in my crawlspace and I will be insulating those ducts soon too so get ready for a new post there. But this is how to improve things on the “top” end.
